Jacobite Gaels 1746–1763 | Network Visualisations

About

John Alasdair Macdonald is a part-time student at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI Profile), having started his studies back in 2010 when he enrolled for a Scottish History degree. A degree and masters later, John is now in the final year of his PhD studies, which he combines with his day job as a private tour guide (The Hebridean Explorer).

This website contains the interactive network graphs and visualisations – based on Social Network Analysis methods – which are a compliment to the PhD thesis (Jacobite Gaels 1746–1763) due to be submitted in early-2025. The future aim of this website is to offer an open source, stand-alone research outlet for wider scholarly (and public) engagement into the use of Historical Network Research (and Social Network Analysis) in Scottish historical projects. Additional research and technical support information will be added to this site after thesis submission.
